Warragul Bowling Club had its final practice match before the season starts against old rivals Drouin on Saturday.

Warragul won five rinks on the day to Drouin’s seven. Warragul (1) lost to Drouin 61/87: John Vickerman, Des Stephens, Pat Hammond and Bill Clappers lost to John Leighton’s team 15/23. Ken Landman, Andy Kidd, Peter Gallasch and Clive Padgham lost to Adam Proctor’s team 13/31. David Alderman, Ian Belling, Janette Gallasch and Peter Wood defeated Mark Atkinson’s team 19/11. Terry Sullivan, Bob Curie, Toby Wallace and Graeme Davis lost to Gary Johnson’s team 14/22.

Warragul (2) defeated Drouin 101/70:

Kerrie Currie, Ron Collins, Keith Wilkins and Necip Akarsu defeated Graham Woolstencr­oft’s team 18/15. Matt Draisma, Alan McDonnell, Shirley Melsen and Roy Hammond lost to Col Jeffrey’s team 15/24. Matt Smith, Brian Barby, Dave Lawrence and Jim Moyle defeated Noel Rubenstein’s team 34/5. Ted Holland, Gabrielle Draisma, Elsie Hefford and David Smith defeated Dave Tayles’ team 34/26. Warragul (3) lost to Drouin 65/77: Bill Clark, Ken Brown, Mike Cousens and Vin Roche lost to Peter Hone’s team 10/22. Flynn Pallot, Marg Keeffe, David Gatewood and Chris Wilkins lost to Barry Price’s team 15/25. Bob Dowal, Lindsay Matthews, May Baldwin and Linda McCoy lost to Dale Hendrick’s team 18/19. Fletcher Pallot, Bill Dye, Barry Downer and Len Duncan defeated Neil Bullen’s team 22/11.

The remaining two Warragul teams played each other. Result: Gary Thomas, Michael Royce, Tony Peters and Trevor Crofts lost to Ruth Waring, John Bell, Wilf Boscombe and Alan Potter 17/26.

In round one of West Gippsland Bowls Division pennant on Saturday, Warragul one is home to Morwell, Warragul two is away to Traralgon, Warragul three is home to Longwarry, Warragul four is away to Morwell and Warragul five is home to Longwarry.\
