Great chase at Warragul

-

The Warragul Greyhound Racing Club will host the Great Chase Community Day in support of local disability organisations on Thursday.

Organisers are expecting a big turn-out for the event which is one of the biggest of the Great Chase events.

The event is part of a series of functions held at 13 country and metropolitan greyhound racing clubs in Victoria, culminating in the Great Chase final, which will be held at The Meadows Greyhound Racing Club in Melbourne on October 25.

Local disability groups, including staff, clients, their families and carers, have been invited to enjoy an afternoon of racing, lunch and the chance to share in cash prizes.

They will also have the opportunity to meet laid-back, non-racing greyhounds which have been rehomed through the Greyhound Adoption Program.

The manager of the Warragul club Adrian Scott said the main aim of the event was to promote social inclusion and provide an enjoyable day out for staff and clients from a range of community organisations.

The Great Chase was first held in 2003. Since then, more than $500,000 in much-needed funds has been donated to organisations through the Great Chase.

The winning group on the day will take away the grand prize of $10,000.
