The Hogget Kitchen experience

Hogget Kitchen is located at Wild Dog Winery just off Warragul-Korumburra Road. It’s only a 5 minute drive from Warragul’s CBD, but sitting in the modern restaurant or on the deck overlooking the vines makes you feel a million miles away.

For those wondering, a Hogget is a lamb aged between weaning and first shearing.

It is the time when the meat is at its most tender and flavoursome.

This also describes the thought and care given to the rest of the produce on the menu.

Chef and owner Trevor Perkins (formerly of Big Spoon Little Spoon) designs a daily menu from ingredients sourced from local growers, his parents’ garden and sometimes from foraging on his days off. This means all the produce is fresh, local and at the peak of its season.

The kitchen prepares each element from scratch, using techniques that have been around for generations. Techniques that ensure you will see and taste each ingredient and remember your meal long after you leave the table.

Each menu is designed to be shared with family and friends as the team believes in the importance of connections over food.

As we move into the warmer months, Hogget Kitchen is offering a set menu for weekend lunches and dinners - $55 for 2 courses or $65 for 3 courses.

You can match wines from an extensive wine list, with local wines on offer including those of highly respected winemakers William Downie and Pat Sullivan - the new operators of the vineyard and winery at Wild Dog.

Now is the time to book ahead for Summer. The deck will soon be open with outdoor seating overlooking the vines and green hills surrounding the property.

Hogget Kitchen is open for breakfast from 8am Friday to Sunday, lunch Wednesday to Sunday and dinner Wednesday to Saturday. For bookings please email hello@hogget.com.au or phone 5623 2211. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for new menu items and more. The Hogget Kitchen location makes you feel a million miles away - but it’s only a five minute drive from Warragul’s CBD.
