Talented player pathway for soccer

-

Gippsland Football Club (soccer) will hold trials for season 2018 on Monday, October 23.

Gippsland FC is a talented player program for players in the Gippsland region with teams playing in the Metropolitan division A.

The program will be expanding in 2018 by entering five teams in the metropolitan competition in boys under 13, 14, 15 and 16 age groups, along with a new under 16 girls’ team.

The club will also continue to deliver Football Federation Australia’s Skills Acquisition Program (SAP) aimed at talented players in the under 12 age group for boys and girls, with programs running in central, south and east Gippsland.

Gippsland FC will also be looking to deliver development programs for under 10 boys and girls, along with under 14 girls.

Players involved in the SAP and development programs will continue to play and train with their home clubs in addition to their involvement in the program.

Trials begin on Monday October 23 for the under 13, 14 and 15 boys, with trials for the under 16 girls and under 16 boys squads to be held at a later date.

Trials for the SAP and development squads will commence in February.

Players can register for any of the squads by visiting the website gippslandfc.com or by visiting the Gippsland FC Facebook page.

Gippsland FC was formed to help transition talented young local players toward the elite level by providing:

• A locally based club/training environment (reduced travel)

• Age appropriate player development in line with the FFA’s National Curriculum

• Access to higher level competition through the FFV’s Metropolitan league system

• Player pathways through links with higher to elite level clubs and associations

• Focus on the benefits of long term development rather than a short term winning at all cost attitude.
