Baw Baw squash begins tonight

The Baw Baw squash season begins tonight.

With players having been graded and new teams formed, a top season of competitiv­e squash is predicted.

While several players are taking a break for various reasons, returning players welcomed back include Jason Tainton, Jim Wilkinson, Chris Cameron and Joe Cicala.

Order of play is three, two and one for a 7.30pm sharp start.

Any player who cannot play for any reason should contact Bill Best on 5623 1933 or 0414 943 324. Teams: Hawks: Jason Tainton, Charlie Hamilton, Joy Williams.

Crows: Jim Wilkinson, Steve Andrews, Russell Jackson.

Vultures: Chris Cameron, Joe Cicala, Bruce Bowering.

Swans: Lynton McPhail, Oscar Braaksma, Peter Young.

Eagles: Steve Mooney, Bjorn Hestdal, Barry Cain.

Round 1 draw: Hawks v Crows, Vultures v Swans, Eagles bye.

Thursday tennis

Diamonds and Rubies were the winners in round one of Warragul Thursday women’s tennis summer competitio­n.

The competitio­n has expanded to include a fifth team, the Opals. Results: Rubies 4/36 d Emeralds 2/27, Diamonds 5/36 d Pearls 1/16, Opals bye.

Ladder: Diamonds 7, Rubies 6, Opals 4, Emeralds 2, Pearls 1.
