Buln Buln v Hallora Hallora has begun their season positively with a strong batting performance against Buln Buln at the weekend.

Liam Serong and Chris Diston set the platform, opening the batting with 35 retired each, before some late hitting from Brayden Notman (24*) pushed the score to 1-155 off their allotted 40 overs.

Buln toiled hard, but it was only Ryan Giles (1-23) who could make a breakthrough. Longwarry v Ellinbank Daniel Pullen (35*) was the star for Longwarry on an even day of cricket against Ellinbank.

Pullen was the only Crows batsmen to reach double figures as Jack Logan and Rick Rosser each claimed multiple wickets, to restrict Longwarry to 6-109 off their 40 overs and give the Eagles a chaseable target next week. Drouin v Garfield-Tynong The two Braaksma’s put on a show for the Titans to put them in a strong position against Drouin.

The older of the pair welcomed the new season with a swashbuckling 70 not out, ably supported by the younger of the pair as they reached 8-140 off 40 overs.

Bill Gibbons (3-12), Adam Campbell (2-17) and Samual Graziotin (2-19) were the pick of the bowlers for the Hawks, who will be in with a sniff of victory. Jindivick v Neerim District An even contest was the result for these two rivals on a slow-moving day at Jindivick.

On a lush outfield, Jindivick were cautious in their approach, making 5-83 off their 40, as Riley Feil made 17 to top score.

Zane Silvester was the pick of the bowlers for the Stags picking up two wickets, as three run outs was the highlight of the day. Western Park v Yarragon Addison Cumming (19) and Josh SmithButterworth (18), were the pick of the batsmen as Yarragon made 4-72 off their allotted overs.

With a slow Marist outfield to work with, Western Park’s bowlers shared the load to put themselves in a strong position to win the game next weekend.

Garfield-Tynong v Hallora/Ellinbank Liam lenders (3-12) and Jake TenaceGreenall (2-9) destroyed Hallora-Ellinbank’s top order to take day one honours in their clash at Tynong at the weekend.

The pair were dynamic in nullifying a strong batting line-up- as only Charlie Stern (20) provided resistance.

With two overs to bat after the merged side were dismissed for 84, the Titans managed to get through unscathed to be 0-2. Warragul v Buln Buln Andrew Burdett (48) unfortunately fell short of a well-deserved 50 with an untimely runout, but was the Lyrebirds saving grace as they staved off a determined Warragul bowling attack.

On the short dimensions of St Pauls, Buln made 9-111 off their allotted overs, with Isaac Shelton’s two wickets the highlight.

For the Gulls, their three run-outs held them in good stead, and they will be hoping their batting matches their fielding next week. Drouin v Jindivick/Neerim Joshua Maric undoubtedly pulled off the performance of the round against JindivickNeerim, taking an incredible 5-6 off six overs to leave a strong Jindivick-Neerim side reeling.

Maric took the last five wickets himself to send the merged side from 3-101 to all out 113 in the blink of an eye.

He and Bailey Osseweyer (14*) put the Hawks in a strong position as they closed the day 0-15 in reply.

Longwarry had the bye.

Jindivick 2/98 (17.2) def Longwarry 93 (26.3) Jindivick were never headed in their contest with Longwarry, scoring at almost six runs an over to easily account for the Crows.

Tim Jeffrey (having scored 53 not out the previous week) continued his early form with an unbeaten 46 to top score for the Jumping Jacks.

Brad Gnaden paired with Jeffrey in a 35-run stand before falling to Bob Thomas for 27.

Earlier in the day, attacking spells from Harrison Moore (3/28) and Jeffrey (3/14) saw the home side lose wickets at regular intervals before a rallying knock of 27 from Noel Pullen helped them to reach their eventual total.

At the top of the order Matt Russell provided a valuable 23.

Jess Sanders chipped in with 2/14.
