Detectives investigate fires and taxi hit-run
Baw Baw and Latrobe CIU detectives are investigating a series of house fires and a hit and run incident in Warragul last week.
Detectives believe the three house fires in Warragul and Morwell, as well as a hit and run involving two taxis in Warragul, are possibly related.
A Morwell man was apprehended by detectives in Pakenham. The 56-year-old man will be interviewed in relation to all incidents.
Detectives are investigating a house fire in Central Ave, Warragul on Monday afternoon and two house fires in Morwell on Tuesday.
The investigation also includes a hit and run collision near the taxi rank in Smith St, Warragul early on Wednesday morning.
Two taxis were hit in the collision. One of the taxi drivers was taken to West Gippsland Hospital while the second driver sustained minor injuries.
Warragul fire brigade responded to the Centre Ave house fire after receiving a call through triple zero at about 2.30pm on Monday from a witness who saw smoke coming from the windows.
Crews from Warragul, Drouin, Traralgon and Yarragon were able to bring the fire under control within the hour.
