Tatterson honoured

-

Twenty-five years after he died in a light aircraft crash former Warragul resident Ian Tatterson has been honoured with a new pavilion named after him in the City of Greater Dandenong.

The Ian Tatterson pavilion, part of an $11.6 million project at Tatterson Park sporting and recreation complex in Cheltenham Rd, Keysborough, was last week named in his honour.

Mr Tatterson grew up in Warragul and began a career in local government with the former Warragul shire.

He later joined the City of Springvale for 14 years, the last eight as chief executive officer, before his death.

The 48 hectares on which Tatterson Park has been established was bought by Springvale City council during his time as CEO.

Mr Tatterson’s mother Nancy still lives in Warragul but his father Albert has passed away.

On June 12, 1992, he was one of five people killed when the light aeroplane they were travelling in crashed on the way to a race meeting at Ouyen in the Mallee district.
