Howie’s return to Drouin
After sold out shows in Drouin over recent years, The Howie Bros and Wayne Horsburgh will return for “Afternoon Melodies” on Wednesday, November 15.
The show will be held at the Drouin Anglican Church Hall from 2pm to 3.30pm.
Featuring lots of singalongs, laughs and different instruments including 12-string guitar, ukulele, mandolin, piano and piano accordion, this is a show offering great entertainment.
The Howie Bros have just returned from a highly successful Canada/ Alaska cruise, where they performed with Adam Harvey.
The identical twins, Graeme and John Howie, attended Warragul North Primary School from about 1955 until the early 60s. Their parents had a dairy farm on Brandy Creek Road.
They started their singing careers aged sevenyears-old with singing teacher June Orchard at Albert Fox's music studio in Warragul Arcade. She recognised their vocal harmony talent and suggested they also learn piano with Irene Howells in Warragul.
The Howie Bros have always loved vocal harmony in their music and are the only Australians to have won the International Harmony Award in the USA.
They have also won three Golden Guitars at the Australasian Country Music Awards in Tamworth as members of band "1901".
They have recorded 40 albums and five twoDVD sets. The latest release is the two-DVD set "Singalong with The Howie Bros", featuring 100 singalong songs as the words scroll across the screen.
Wayne Horsburgh is Australia's premier male yodeller. Singing in the style of Frank Ifield, Slim Whitman and Marty Robbins, he has won six “Mo” awards for club entertainment.
He has just released a new album, “Country Songs and Western Swing”.
If you can’t attend the Drouin show, Gippslanders can also see The Howie Bros and Wayne Horsburgh at Inverloch on Thursday, November 16 and Lakes Entrance on Friday, November 17.
Tickets to the show at the Drouin Anglican Church Hall are $15 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the door and include a cup of tea and biscuits at interval.
