Six from Glover stuns Ellinbank
Attacking the stumps with vigor, the league’s most damaging bowler helped himself to 7-34 from 29 overs of sustained pressure and his efforts denied Kumara a century, and restricted Yarragon to 165.
Left with six overs to face out, the Warriors safely made it to stumps without the loss of a wicket, with Joel Batson and Tyler McMillan knocking 18 runs off the required target.
Armour provides salvo
Buln Buln (5-210) vs. Hallora: A gritty opening salvo from Jack Armour has helped Buln Buln to a competitive first innings total against Hallora in their round five clash, with the Lyrebirds displaying staunch resistance on a tricky batting surface.
Having been sent into bat, Jack Paull and Jack Armour were forced on the defensive thanks to some testing new-ball bowling from Ryan Williams and Sam Whibley.
Their probing line and length ensured that runs were at a premium, although the Kangaroos were unable to claim the early breakthroughs they were hoping for.
Simon Phillips was eventually able to induce a false stroke from Paull (who was removed for 32) and Ryan Williams quickly found the edge of Rhys Holdsworth’s bat, but Armour and Corey Jagoe continued to frustrate the Halloran bowlers.
Jai Serong’s eight-over spell proved to be the most productive of the day – with the youngster snaring 2-24, including the wickets of Jagoe and Jack Symes – but Buln’s middle order held firm for the duration of their 70 overs.
Armour’s stay at the crease was eventually ended on 47, but his removal allowed Bryce Monahan to explode late in the piece, with the all-rounder blasting a 31-ball 56 to boost Buln to 5-210 at stumps.
