Division 3

- By Sam Laffy

Longwarry (131) vs. Buln (1-16): Buln Buln hold the upper hand in their clash with Longwarry, despite a fine halfcentury to Isaac Carney, with the Lyrebirds requiring just 116 more runs for victory heading into day two of their division three encounter.

Carney’s knock of 56 boosted the Crows’ hopes of posting a strong total early in the day, but just one other batsmen was able to make it to double figures as the Buln bowlers clamped down on the Longwarry batsmen.

Max Kelly (4-44) and Dulip Wanigavitharana (3-43) played the role of ‘destroyers’ with the ball, and helped to limit the Crows to just 131 before they were dismissed.

In reply, Buln made it through to 1-16 at stumps.

It was a hard-fought encounter for the duration of the day, with Craig Cousin (20) and Anthony Hart (30) looking dangerous early on,
