Warragul & Drouin Gazette

Time for I do

-

The Warragul Gazette comes out today on the eve of the same sex marriage postal survey and it seems a fitting time as a reader to thank those who not only over the period of the survey, but over years, have written in and shared their views on the topic in the letters page.

Some of the letters have been hard to read, while others have had me laughing but ultimately, I am glad we live in a community where our local paper allows the community to have conversations, express different viewpoints and read those of others in our community.

Tomorrow it won’t be our local paper, but the national media we will turn our attention to as we see what the feelings of Australia is on this topic but as well as thanking the letter writers of all sides, I especially thank those who voted Yes. I thank you for your vote for fairness and inclusion in community.

Hopefully the results tomorrow will lead to all Australians being able to say “I do".

Big bouquet to Jack who picks rubbish and sweeps around Drouin Station on weekend mornings.

Bouquets to the lifeguards at the Warragul Swimming Pool. They are always smiling, friendly and helpful.
