Comunity groups receive $248,000 in funding
Baw Baw Shire Council awarded 53 community development grants to nonprofit organisations, groups and associations recently.
The grants will assist with projects, programs, equipment and events that contribute to our community. The grants totalled almost $248,000. Deputy mayor Mikaela Power was pleased that council was once again able to support the local community through the Community Development Grants program.
“It was fantastic to see a broad selection of applications put forward this year across all categories, which shows the diversity and creativity that exists in our community,” she said.
“We have so many hardworking and enthusiastic local volunteer groups who work together on these projects and programs, which provide opportunities, entertainment and improved facilities for the community.
“What is most exciting for council to see is the full life cycle of these projects, from the funding stage right through to delivery.”
This year 90 applications were received. Following a comprehensive assessment of all applications, Council endorsed 53 grants for eligible programs and projects.
Successful projects were allocated funding from four categories, including environment, youth, community events and programs, minor capital works and minor equipment purchases.
