Lighting upgrade for netball courts

Netball courts at Buln Buln, Neerim South and Trafalgar will receive lighting upgrades having attracted state government funding.

The clubs will share in $80,000 from the state government’s Country Football and Netball Program, with project scope including installation of new light towers, LED floodlighting and electrical works to achieve the minimum of 200 lux at the netball courts.

The program replaces and upgrades ageing grounds and facilities for football and netball clubs across regional Victoria so they can meet growing demand and welcome even more members.

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said the upgrades would allow players to have access to the safe, modern facilities they truly deserve.

“Regional clubs have bred some of our nation’s greatest sporting champions – and we’re giving them the facilities they need to continue this proud tradition,” she said.

The 2016/17 state budget delivered a further $60 million boost to build new and upgrade sporting facilities across the state, including an $8 million boost for the Country Football and Netball Program. The program has an additional $1 million from partners the AFL, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria,

The local clubs were among 23 state wide to share in more than $2 million from the latest round of the program.
