War­ragul and Dis­trict crick­eters Sam Bat­son and Jack Ar­mour per­formed strongly to help Gipp­s­land un­der 21s to vic­tory iver Western Waves in the open­ing round.

With the Pride win­ning the toss and elect­ing to bat first, Western Park all-rounder Bat­son struck a half cen­tury (51) from num­ber seven to help the Pride post a com­pet­i­tive to­tal of 194.

Buln B uln wicket-keeper bats­man Jack Ar­mour also chimed in, scor­ing 18. Usu­ally noted as a de­fen­sive bats­man, Ar­mour’s in­nings in­cluded a six that proved pop­u­lar with team­mates.

Bat­son and Ar­mour also made strong con­tri­bu­tions as the Pride re­stricted the waves to 141 in re­ply.

Open­ing the bowl­ing, Bat­son took two wick­ets to fin­ish with 2/23 from eight overs, while Ar­mour did his bit be­hind the stumps, glov­ing two catches.
