Division 3

- By Sam Laffy

Iona (2-182) def. Yarragon (140): Iona’s impressive run of form continued in their round five clash against Yarragon, with the Swamp Tigers remaining unbeaten on the top of the table following their easy eight-wicket win over the Panthers.

In pursuit of 140, Iona’s chase began confidently as Michael Neilson (19) and Andrew Parker (who eventually finished with 53*) added 46 for the first wicket to put their opponents on the backfoot.

John Buckland (0-36 off 13) and Oliver Watt (0-20 from eight) did their best to restrict the scoring of the Swamp Tigers batsmen, but Luke Ferguson (59) and Mick Taylor (35*) were up to the task and they quickly carried their side to victory.

At 2-182, Iona decided that they had put their noses far enough in front to end the game after 41 overs, and they remain one game clear of second place on the division three table.

Crows score first win

Longwarry (131) def. Buln Buln (108): Longwarry claimed their first win of the season with an upset 23-run victory over Buln Buln, with the Crows bowlers simply too good for their opponents.

Having posted just 131 after batting first last weekend, it seemed as though Longwarry would have their work cut out for them against a Lyrebirds outfit full of confidence.
