Distorting figures

-

Post the Same Sex Marriage survey, most 'no' voters have responded with grace and dignity. Then there's Roger Marks. ("No maths whizz" Gaz 21/11)

I always believed two things prior to the SSM, survey, namely 1) the 'yes' vote would win decisively and 2) Roger Marks would 'sook it up' when it did. I was correct on both counts.

However, sooking is one thing - blatantly distorting the truth is another.

Roger, the non-voters are not supporters of the 'yes' vote, and are clearly not supporters of the 'no' vote. They simply did not care, thus rendering them irrelevant in this survey.

To use your breathtaking "logic", however, just 30.5 percent of eligible votes agreed with you, and 69.5 did not.

Your views are the majority, Roger? The 'no' vote won in raw figures?

Factually wrong and wrong! Truly, in your own delusional world, you are capable of convincing yourself of anything.

The vast majority of Australians rejoice in and/or gracefully accept the fact that SSM is deservedly on the brink of becoming a legal reality, whilst a small minority like Roger Marks tiresomely continue to promote their own irrelevance. John Duck, Trafalgar

Bouquets to BBSC for following up and painting lines on the McArthur Street and Montgomery Street Warragul roadways. The camber is so not good and drivers are constantly on the wrong side of the road both ways. Let’s see if this makes a difference.

I would like to send a bouquet to the lady in Normanby Street Warragul who rescued my handbag. I had stupidly left it on the car roof. She identified me as the owner, found my phone number and called me - all within a few minutes of it flying off the car. Thanks so much for your honesty and promptness.

To the many talented musicians that make up the Gippsland Symphony Orchestra. A wonderful opportunity to hear a program of quality classical music under the baton of David Williams. Congratulations to all involved.

A brick to In2Food for the limited choices on their menu especially when it comes to catering for vegetarians. Pasta and rice dishes should not be the only options for those who choose not to eat meat or seafood. Not good enough.

Bouquets to the two young contractors spraying weeds at Mc Neilly wetlands Drouin, a few weeks ago. They didn't just spray but also pulled out weeds the old fashioned method and left things looking really good for their efforts.

All submissions must include a full name and address and daytime contact number, however, contributors will not be identified in print. Please send your submissions to editorial@warragulgazette.com.au or use our website www.thegazette.com.au or our mobile phone: 0458 923 429.
