that his side wouldn’t collapse and hand Longwarry the momentum in the contest.

Remarkably, Duncan struck just four boundaries in his knock of 102 – the knock his third division one century – and having seen his side to victory the Halloran captain watched as the likes of Ryan Williams cashed in. The all-rounder belted 47 from just 34 balls to accelerate the scoring rate once the points had been secured, along with Sam Whibley who struck an invaluable 59.

Lehmann claimed his best division one figures in a sterling effort with the ball – snaring 7-46 from 16 overs – but even so Hallora made it through to 262 before being dismissed in the 76th over.

The win sees Hallora remain unbeaten and atop the division one table.

Panthers disappoint

Ellinbank (162) def. Yarragon (78): Yarragon’s disappointing form with the bat has cost them dearly this summer and the weekend’s encounter with Ellinbank proved no different, with the Panthers slumping to an 84-run loss at the hands of the Eagles.

Having restricted their opponents to 162 on day one of proceedings, Yarragon resumed at 2-6, knowing that one hefty partnership might be enough to take the wind out of Ellinbank’s sails and help them towards victory.

However, despite some solid crease occupation there was precious little run-scoring and the Eagles’ bowlers displayed the necessary patience to outlast their opponents.

It was Nick Fairbank (who claimed the figures of 4-12 from seven overs) who made the crucial breakthrough – breaching the defences of Gamini Kumara to send the star all-rounder on his way for 22 – and despite some late resistance from Ishan Ratnayake there was little that Yarragon could do to resist.

Robertson (4-21 from 15.3) and Masterson (1-18 off 14) provided superb support for Fairbank, and the trio’s efforts saw the Panthers bundled out for 78 in the 52nd over.

The win keeps Ellinbank in the top four and raises their hopes of again pushing for the top four in season 2017-18.
