Longwarry’s division three travelled to Yallourn on Saturday and came home with an impressive 46-shot win.

The division six had a great game at Garfield to come home with a two-shot win.

Division three: Longwarry defeated Yallourn (3) 108/62.

Eric Peterson, Grant Pask, Ian Peterson and Russell White (skip) defeated Rob Goldie’s team 33/16.

After a slow start, Longwarry finally got on a roll and won 12 ends in a row to set up a comfortabl­e 17-shot win. Skip Russell White was once again a standout.

Elio Meggetto, Judy Eastwell, Kenneth Towt and Barry White (skip) defeated E. Whelan’s team 22/20.

It was a tight game all day, with several lead changes. Longwarry won the last two ends of a great game to scrape home by two shots. Elio Meggetto led well all day to be the standout player.

Glenn Pask, Lloyd Maisey, Hank Metselaar and Slim Eastwell (skip) defeated A. Luck’s team 27/13.

The newly formed rink (“Dreamteam”) for Longwarry got off to a great start, with Lloyd Williams back to his old form. They got out to a 21-shot lead by end 19. After the short break due to storms, Yallourn won five of the last six ends but Longwarry had done the damage early to record a comfortabl­e 14-shot win.

Brian Hennessy, Mark Serong, Gerry Michelin and Ken White (skip) defeated B. Puddy’s team 31/13.

Longwarry went into the break with a commanding 17-shot lead. The second half the game was evenly contested. Longwarry won by 18 shots to be rink of the day. Brian Hennessy enjoyed his new role to be player of the day.

Division six: Longwarry (2) defeated Garfield (3) 48/46.

Sharon Twite, Peter Smethurst, John Watts and Gerry Wakefield (skip) defeated Damian Brick’s team 28/21.

Longwarrry, whilst having difficulty overcoming young “Wilson’s” (Garfield) leading, managed to go into the break leading by seven shots. The second half of their match was an even contest, with Longwarry scoring a sevenshot win.

Reg Dunn, Ron Sutton, Eddie Bluck and Brian Mason (skip) lost to Judy Pocklingto­n’s team 20/25.

Longwarry got off to a slow start to be eightshots down by end six. Longwarry tried hard to bridge the gap for the rest of the game, but went down by five shots.
