Sweet treats
As well as celebrations and presents, Christmas is a wonderful time for special treats and homemade gifts. Many families took the opportunity to make their own gingerbread houses at the Salvation Army, Warragul last week. The annual Drouin Carols by Candlelight will be performed in Civic Park on Saturday from 7.30pm.
The 28th carols arranged by local churches will be held in the Sound Shell and feature a long list of entertainers.
The Warragul Municipal Band and Baw Baw Singers will lead the community carol singing.
Items will be provided by Lyndon Calway and Rachel McPherson, John Black, Miriam Hood, Drouin West Primary School, a Drouin Baptist Church group, and Annette Martin and the Chairo Middle School Choir.
A message will be delivered by Baw Baw Shire mayor Joe Gauci as well as a Christmas address by Drouin Presbyterian Church Minister Heath Easton.
The joint comperes will be Steve McAllister and Jeff Calway of Drouin Baptist Church.
Due to safety, candles will not be issued. However, Glowstix will be available for $1 each and battery-operated Candlelight Rainbows for $2.50 each.
In the event of inclement weather, the carols will go ahead at Bellbird Park Indoor Centre.
