Council will continue to hold its council meetings at Trafalgar next year.

Council has adopted its meeting schedule for 2018, with the first meeting to be held on Wednesday, February 14.

A special meeting will be held in Walhalla on Monday, October 1 to mark the 100th anniversary of the closure of the shire at Walhalla.

Council made the decision to relocate its meetings to the former Narracan Shire council chambers at Trafalgar when redevelopment works began at the West Gippsland Arts Centre earlier this year.

After 52 years of being the hub for Warragul Shire, Warragul Rural City and Baw Baw council meetings, the final meeting in the Warragul chambers was held in February.

The redeveloped arts centre will not include a council chamber. The existing upstairs area of Civic Place will be incorporated into the new arts centre foyer space.

Provision of a council chambers was not included in the design for the redeveloped Drouin shire offices when works were undertaken two years ago.

Until a decision is made on a permanent home for council meetings, council will continue to meet at the Trafalgar office precinct.

Council meetings next year will continue to be held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, beginning in February.

The meetings will begin at 5pm for the consideration of any in-committee items and will be open to the public at 5.30pm.

Confidential council briefings will be held on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.

Council also adopted a Meet Your Council Program that can occur on briefing days. This allows directors to complete an activity to inform councillors of key pieces of work occurring within the organisation.
