Independently working for Baw Baw businesses

-

The newly formed Independent Business Council of Baw Baw was launched in Trafalgar last week.

Local businesswoman Angela Betheras said the group grew from informal conversations on the need to have one organisation to bring together all the business groups in the shire.

Ms Betheras said a small group of people met on a regular basis to brain storm ideas.

“We were a dynamic group of people who wanted something to happen,” she said.

Ms Betheras announced the appointment of inuagural chairman consultant Joanne Butterworth-Gray.

Ms Butterworth-Gray said she was excited to take on the new role.

She said the organisation wanted to bring together all business groups within the shire to jointly promote, support and grow businesses in the region.

She said the key focus was bring together a business groups and businesses in the shire. The group will promote and network, share ideas and lobby for the region.

It also will share professional training, facilitate and support significant events as well as share knowledge and activity to inform businesses of valuable activities.

Ms Butterworth-Gray said with Baw Baw’s growth there were great opportunities for business.

“Baw Baw needs to have a coherent voice that is easily accessible,” she said.

Baw Baw Shire Councillor Mikaela Power congratulated the committee on the work it had achieved in getting the organisation off the ground.

The organisation meets on the third Tuesday of the month.
