Leader sought for a million paws

-

RSPCA Victoria is looking for a dog-loving volunteer to lead next year’s Million Paws Walk event in Warragul.

The annual Million Paws Walk is RSPCA’s biggest fundraising event of the year, with more than 14,000 people and their beloved dogs walking to raise funds to help animals in need at locations across Australia.

The 2018 walk will be held on Sunday, May 20. Applications for the volunteer walk co-ordinator role close December 15.

RSPCA Victoria events and community fundraising manager Jo-Anne Wriede said walk coordinators were enthusiastic, reliable and highly organised volunteers.

“Million Paws Walk wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of the community and volunteers who help us to raise the vital funds needed to care for the lost, abandoned and rescued animals that come into our care,” she said.

“Last year’s Warragul Million Paws Walk was a great success and we’d love to provide the opportunity for the Warragul community to show their support for animal welfare again this year.”

Ms Wriede said the Warragul walk coordinator would be responsible for planning and coordinating activities for their walk, including arranging permits and approvals, sourcing local sponsorship, recruiting and organising volunteers, coordinating the event set-up and supervision at the event on the day.

“The volunteer walk coordinator role is an important commitment and, with help and support from our RSPCA Victoria events team, is key to making this year’s Million Paws Walk event an even bigger success,” she said.

Those interested in the volunteer role should email MPW@rspcavic.org.au or phone 9224 2210.
