Beth Delzoppo scholarship open

-

Neerim District students will again benefit from a scholarship program, which will supplement study costs in their first year of higher education.

The Beth Delzoppo – Neerim District Community Bank Scholarship is part of the bank’s scholarship program.

Board chairman Tim Kubale said the scholarship was launched because the branch was committed to helping local students further their education.

“Our branch has supported many youth and education initiatives in the Neerim District,” he said.

“We know that by investing in young people and education through the scholarship program, Neerim District will benefit.

“Ultimately, we want to be part of a system that transforms the lives of local students, so we’re committed to creating pathways to allow that opportunity,” he said.

Successful applicants will initially receive funding for one year and depending on academic performance, the scholarship may be renewed to assist in the second year of study.

Applications are invited from eligible students, starting their studies in 2018. Applications close on January 29 and will be assessed in early February.

Last year, the scholarship supported local student Harrison Griffiths with his paramedic studies at Victoria university.

Harrison said the scholarship gave him the necessary funds to find accommodation on campus, relieving the financial pressure of attending university.

“I am grateful to the Neerim District Community Bank Branch for helping me to attend university and to pursue my ambitions,” Mr Griffiths said.
