Jean named champion
The final of Warragul Bowling Club’s women’s championship singles was played on Sunday between Jean Kydd and Gabrielle Draisma.
Both players recorded good wins in the lead up rounds, with a close game anticipated attracting a good sized crowd.
Jean got off to the perfect start, a four on the first end and three on the second before Gabrielle got three ones to see the score at 7/3.
They got one each on the next two ends before Jean scored on four ends in a row to lead 13/4. Gabrielle was playing better than the score line suggests, but Jean continued to get one better shot in.
Gabrielle fought back with the next three ends - all ones. Jean got two ones and Gabrielle two ones and a two to close the gap to 11/15.
Gabrielle get to within three shots, before Jean moved the score back out to 20/13.
Ones were scored on the next three ends before Jean scored a very good three on the crucial 28th end to take a commanding 24/15 lead.
Jean was down on the next end but again drew a very good shot. Gabrielle failed to beat it and Jean won 25/15.
Jean won 15 ends to Gabrielle’s 14. However, the difference was Jean got a four, two threes and three twos, while Gabrielle only got one multiple for the game.
Congratulations to both players on a game played in the right spirit.
