Division 2

- By Sam Laffy

Jindivick (4-152) def. Warragul (7-148): A flurry of runs from Paul Bridges-Black threatened to take the game away from Jindivick in their clash against Warragul on Saturday, but a disciplined run-chase helped Jindivick to record their sixth win of the summer, with Harry Moore again leading the way.

Bridges-Black took full toll on some loose bowling at the end of the Warragul innings – with Jack Langley in particular the target of his aggression – and together with watchful knocks of 26 to Andrew Best and 23 to Reuben Wakefield, helped lift the Gulls to 7148 at the conclusion of their 40 overs.

In reply, Brian Christensen made an early inroad with the new-ball, and the dangerous Greg Interlandi had his knock curtailed on 32 and hopes of an upset win were briefly raised.

However, Moore (who struck an unbeaten 46) and Kamran Murtaza (who chimed in with a brisk 23) soon steadied the ship and the Jumping Jacks were able to reach victory in the 38th over.

Titans awaken

Garfield-Tynong (6-177) def. Drouin (116): It’s taken until round seven but the Titans have finally risen from their slumber and sent lightning bolts flying down from the top of Mount Othrys, as they claimed a 61-run win over Drouin.

As anticipated, Tate Burgmann was the main instigator of the attack on the Hawks, and his boundary-laden unbeaten 58 helped to propel Garfield-Tynong to 6-177 from their 40 overs.

Daniel Savage chimed in with an equally aggressive knock of 49, and the pair well and truly put the pressure on the Drouin bowlers.

In defence of their total, Grant Pearson (1-8 from five) ensured there would be no brash counter-attack from the Hawks openers and Stephen Shields (4-35), Craig Murray (2-16) and Daniel Savage (2-5) reaped the benefits.

They combined to bundle Drouin out for just 116 in reply, with only Chris Harry (34) able to really mount any sort of resistance.

Stags fly under radar
