Feeling respect

-

I have never felt more respect for a politician than I did on Wednesday, when I saw that Russell Broadbent was one of four politicians who stood up for the Judaeo-Christian value of traditional marriage being between a man and a woman.

It is a mark of a true person of principle when you go against the overwhelming majority who are following the popular trend, and stand firm for what is right in your eyes.

You do not go with the emotionalism of “Love is Love”, but what is right, even though may not be what we want to hear, but it is right.

Russell is a leader and not a follower, that is plain for us all to see. I feel proud that we have such a person representing us in parliament.

I am not a supporter of marriage equality. Not because I hate gay or transgender people. I do not. I sincerely believe that marriage is simply a sacred union between two people of opposite genders that has the potential to create another human being/s in a godly image.

I love my fellow human beings enough to try to steer them in the paths of righteousness and peace, when I believe that are off track. To my mind, marriage between two people of the same sex is wrong and off-track.

Despise the sin, not the sinner who always has the doors of redemption open until the last breath leaves their physical body.
