Armed Robber big winner at GAT

Off the Leash Theatre production “Checklist for an Armed Robber” was a big winner at the Gippsland Associated Theatre Awards.

The production, held at the Drouin Secondary College Auditorium in May, won five award categories including most outstandin­g production – drama/comedy.

In addition, Cameron Gray won most outstandin­g director – drama/comedy, Todd Miller and Kyle Wright both won most outstandin­g male support actor – drama/comedy, the cast was named most outstandin­g small ensemble, and Sarah Hartnell won most outstandin­g program.

Warragul Theatre Company’s “Measure for Measure”, a Shakespear­e play performed at the Warragul Exhibition Hall in June/July, took out two GAT awards.

Adrian Darakai was named most outstandin­g male lead actor for his portrayal of “Angelo” and Deb Welch won most outstandin­g female support actor in his role of “Pompey”.

Warragul Theatre Company’s second show “Song Contest: The Almost Eurovision Experience”, performed at the Warragul Exhibition Hall in November, took out most outstandin­g technical achievemen­t for its live cross segment.

Impact Theatre of Warragul had Josie Inches win most outstandin­g female lead actor – drama/comedy for her portrayal in “Full Stop”. The all-female youth production was performed at the Warragul Exhibition Hall in September.
