Swamp Tigers win big

Iona (2-121) def. Yarragon (7-115): A dynamic knock from Luke Ferguson has propelled Iona to another big win, with the Swamp Tigers taking an eight-wicket win away from their clash with Yarragon.

A tight bowling performance from the likes of Jayson Barwick (1-19 off eight), Nathan Wheildon (1-19 from six) and Mick Taylor (a brilliant spell of 3-9 from his eight overs) kept the run-rate low for the duration of the Panthers’ innings and they posted just 7-115 from their allotted overs; with Carlo Ierfone (35) and Daniel Loft (30) the pick of the batsmen.

In defence of their total Yarragon began enthusiastically, with Norm Evans removing Accardi for 0, but Luke Ferguson was in no mood to provide his opponents with a sniff and he blasted boundary after boundary. The allrounder smashed 84* in quick time to propel Iona to 2-121 (and victory) in just 19.1 overs.

Stags ease to victory

Neerim District (3-115) def. Jindivick (111): An aggressive half-century to Anthony McCann has helped Neerim District ease to a seven-wicket win over Jindivick in their division three encounter, with the Stags batsmen backing up some excellent work from their bowlers.

Kody Wilson (4-15 from eight) and Cameron Law (3-24 off seven) did the bulk of the damage with the white pill in hand, and ensure that Jindivick could only post a middling total after electing to bat first.

The Jumping Jacks began brightly thanks to Tyler Constantine’s knock of 36, but the next best score was just 14, with the Neerim bowlers applying constant pressure.

Jarryd Croxford was able to remove Heath Darcy without scoring in an encouraging start to Jindivick’s defence of 111, but Anthony McCann quickly settled and with Nathan Ryrie chiming in with 32 the Stags reached 3115 in the 30th over.
