Kay on the wall
The work of renowned beader and creator of extraordinary jewellery Kay Lancashire will be on “The Wall” at the Station Gallery in Yarragon this month.
Kay has an extensive display of work ranging from clean, precise hand cut silhouettes on silver to complex miniatures comprising exquisite hand bound books, equally minute bottles and intricate beading.
This exhibition challenges conventional interpretations of jewellery because of the often unusual nature of beaded pieces, pendants, brooches and miniature artworks.
Kay’s jewellery display will be in an area affectionately known as “The Wall”. As well as having a standard exhibition and shop space, the Station Gallery uses “The Wall” to display the work of a single artist who is often available to conduct a demonstration at no cost to the visitor.
The display is currently open for viewing and will conclude on Sunday, January 28.
In addition, a range of tiny works are currently on show at the Station Gallery in a fittingly titled exhibition “It’s a Small World”.
A wonderful range of both 2D and 3D miniatures in many media by local artists and craftspeople are included.
Like so many of the exhibitions at the Station Gallery, this will give visitors an insight into the breadth and depth of the creative visual arts in the Baw Baw Shire.
The exhibition is also now open and will run until Sunday, January 28.
