Jemyma heads in a creative direction
Jemyma Lieshout was announced dux of Drouin Secondary College with an ATAR of 98.55 at the college’s presentation night.
Jemyma, third generation of her family to attend Drouin Secondary College, won a Premier’s Award after scoring a perfect 50 for business studies. In addition, she studied English, biology and psychology in 2017.
In 2016, Jemyma received outstanding results for visual communication and design and further mathematics as part of the college’s “Early Access” program.
Her outstanding score also saw her receive the Baw Baw Shire Academic Achievement Scholarship.
She plans to study creative direction and styling.
The college reported 100 per cent of its VCE students achieved a pass, with some outstanding individual results.
The college’s top 10 per cent of year 12 VCE students for 2017 – based on their ATAR score – are Jemyma Lieshout, Alexander Fenner, Shannon Mellings, Blake Johns, Brooke Dorling, Darcie Hower, Chloe Smith, Dylan Pryor and Ruby Pratt.
In addition, 94 per cent of the college’s VCAL students completed their course successfully, with the remaining six per cent already in apprenticeships or training.
In addressing the college community at the presentation night, principal Deb Gentle said “We should all feel proud and positive that these young people are contributing to our community, and that they will become the wellrounded citizens our world needs”.
“A commitment to your learning will bring rewards in life and give you choices in the future you can’t even imagine,” she added. “We look forward to hearing about the future studies and careers of the year 12 class of 2017.”
