Specialist will deliver learning consistency
Longwarry Primary School has welcomed one of 400 learning specialists in the state for the 2018 school year.
Claire Tatterson began her three-year tenure at the school during a statewide transition day late last year, working with new prep students.
Longwarry Primary School principal Paula Johnston said learning specialists had been an initiative of the Department of Education to deliver and achieve consistency in high quality education across schools.
Learning specialists have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning.
They are expected to have deep knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students.
“I am thrilled that Learning Specialist Claire Tatterson will work closely with staff at Longwarry Primary School from 2018,” Ms Johnston said.
“As a teacher Claire has a reputation as an exemplary teacher who builds strong relationships with students and achieves high results.”
With small class sizes next year, including two classes of 14 at Prep level, Ms Johnston said it would give the children the best opportunity for learning..
