Longwarry wins in wet weather

Longwarry’s division three came home from Yinnar with a hard-earned 16-shot win after playing in wintery conditions on Saturday.

Longwarry’s division six had the bye.

Division three: Longwarry 18/102 defeated Yinnar 2/86.

Simon Counsel, Grant Pask, Ian Peterson and Russell White (skip) defeated Tim Roaches’ team 27/25.

Longwarry, who were playing well, got out to a 13-shot lead after 16 ends. However, they only managed two more shots as Yinnar stormed home to just miss out. Longwarry won by two shots.

Elio Meggetto, Judy Eastwell, Kenneth Towt and Barry White (skip) lost to Tom Shore’s team 21/26.

After an even first five ends, Yinnar got out to a nine-shot lead by end 13. Longwarry tried hard to peg back the margin, but Yinnar got home by five shots.

Brian Hennessy, Mark Serong, Gerry “Hogless” Mitchell and Kenny White (skip) defeated Trevor Berryman’s team 24/17.

With scores even on end 18, Longwarry - with the aid of some lovely bowling by skip Kenny managed to draw away for a sevenshot win.

Glenn Pask, Eddie Bluck, Hank Metselaar and Slim Eastwell (skip) defeated Wayne Harris’ team 30/18.

Longwarry were looking down the barrel, sitting five shots down after 16 ends. With an extraordinary form reversal, they picked up 19 shots in the next seven ends to record a great 12-shot win.
