New Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

-

“Mitsubishi has a long history in developing innovative and exciting new models and the Eclipse Cross will build on our reputation as a leader in the SUV segment,” said John Signoriello, Mitsubishi Australia CEO.

“We are excited to be able to announce the details of the forthcoming Eclipse Cross and we are looking forward to a strong 2018, as our expanded SUV range hits the road.”

The Eclipse will be offered in two trim levels, LS and Exceed, with the former only available in two-wheel drive but both will share the same engine.

Standard equipment on the LS includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, front fog lights, keyless entry and ignition, cruise control, cloth seats, Bluetooth, 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and a six-speaker sound system.

Standard safety equipment includes airbag protection for all occupants, reversing camera, autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warning.

Exceed models are available with allwheel drive and come equipped with more standard equipment such as LED headlights, dualzone air-conditioning, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, leather-trimmed upholstery, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.

The top-end model also includes Mitsubishi’s ultrasonic misacceleration mitigation system, which can detect if a driver has accidently hit the accelerator pedal at low speeds (below 10km/h) and reduce engine power accordingly.

The only available powertrain, for now, is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission. The engine produces 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque and when driving the twowheel drive it returns a combined fuel consumption of 7.3L/100km; in allwheel drive it is a little thirstier, returning 7.7L/100km.
