Industry Studios opens its doors in 2018

Industry Studios is a brand new performing arts hub opening for the commencement of the 2018 school year. Warragul resident, Kristy Monk, has been instrumental in cultivating the dance culture in Warragul over the past eight years, and decided it was time to create a space where she could offer a new range of classes to the community. Kristy has been working to convert a warehouse space at 6 Normanby Street in Warragul into fully-equipped dance studios - installing brandnew flooring, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, aerial rigging, retail space and comfortable lounge and viewing areas for students, family members and guests. She also has plans to create a soundproof music studio and rehearsal space. With fresh new teachers and performance industry professionals joining the team in 2018, Industry Studios will offer classes for all ages and skill levels, in ballet, lyrical, commercial jazz, hip hop, breakdance, tap, musical theatre, aerial, acrobatics, vocal coaching and drama. They will also offer a pre-school program for little girls and boys, to introduce music, movement, dance and self-expression. In her many years of teaching, one of the biggest issues Kristy had identified in talented young dancers is that they are often missing the guidance required when deciding to pursue dance as a professional career. “It’s a huge transition taking your talent from a smaller, regional town like Warragul, to Melbourne, or the rest of the world. It’s important to also teach students life and business skills and how to prepare themselves for a career in the performing arts industry, if that’s what they want”, says Kristy. “At Industry Studios, our team knows what it takes to be industry ready.” Kristy has mentored and taught numerous students who have gone on to be accepted into prestigious full-time performance arts courses around Australia and continued to work professionally in the dance industry.
