Kangaroos overwhelm Panthers

day one of their encounter against Drouin in a strong position, with the Hawks stumbling to 4-16 in pursuit of 103.

It was Dale Weller who provided headaches for the Warriors after Drouin had been sent into the field, with the veteran spinner displaying his full bag of tricks on the Western Park turf wicket.

Following a watchful start from Sam Russell and Jason Croft – the pair adding 23 for the first wicket – the top and middle order soon floundered, with Weller snaring the first five wickets to fall.

The top score was just 19 – to Jason Croft – and Weller finished with the incredible figures of 7-40 to bundle Western Park out for 103.

Having contributed just 10 with the bat and no doubt disappointed with his team’s performance, Sam Batson came out breathing fire with the ball, and despite the best efforts of Paul McCluskey to keep Drouin in the game – the veteran ‘keeper wearing body blows off the fast bowler – the Hawks were in all sorts.

Batson claimed 4-3 from his 10 overs on the day, an astonishing effort from the young tyro as the Hawks stumbled to stumps at 4-16.
