Division 1

- By Sam Laffy

Hallora (2-108) vs. Yarragon (104): Hallora have already claimed victory in their division one clash with Yarragon, as the Kangaroos put in a dominant performance with bat and ball to overwhelm the Panthers outfit.

Having been sent into the field by their opponents Hallora wasted little time in claiming the upper hand in the contest, with Sam Whibley on fire with the new-ball.

He removed Trewern for six, the dangerous Ratnayake for just three, and claimed the crucial scalp of Gamini Kumara for just 19 to reduce the score to 3-43 early in the afternoon.

With the loss of their key run-scorers, there was little that Yarragon could do to fightback and after 52 overs they were bundled out for 104.

Whibley finished with 5-34 from his 17 overs, while James Williams claimed 2-37 off 17 accurate overs.

In reply, Fraser Duncan batted aggressively – striking 11 boundaries in his innings of 56* and with Ryan Williams also in an attacking mood it took just 25 overs for Hallora to pass Yarragon’s total.

Both batsmen remain not out and will look to further punish their opponents at the resumption of play next weekend.
