Impressive bowls from Drouin

Drouin had a good day in pennant on Saturday with the top two teams having big wins.

The other two Drouin teams just went down.

With only two more rounds before finals, three of Drouin’s four teams are sitting in the top four.

Division one: Drouin 18/113 defeated Morwell 2/69.

Matthew Eccles, C. Blounee, Mick Fleming and Adam Proctor (skip) defeated M. Cooper’s team 26/18. Maureen Leighton, Chris Stubbings, John Leighton and Matthew Schreyer (skip) defeated S. Bhatti’s team 42/10. Graeme Aubrey, Sheryl Atkinson, Glen Lockett and Mark Atkinson (skip) defeated K. Gadsby’s team 27/17. David McIlfatric­k, Les Firth, Dennis Throup and Gary Johnson (skip) lost to W. Bishop’s team 18/24.

Division three: Drouin (2) 20/129 defeated Morwell (2) 0/50.

Bob Cole, Dale Hedrick, Tim Anderson and Noel Rubenstein (skip) defeated Diane White’s team 34/10. In this match, Morwell only won five ends while Drouin won 20 ends.

Samantha Atkinson, John Bulmer, Ron Brodie and Colin Finger (skip) defeated I. Auld’s team 23/16. Pauline Appleyard, Andrew Blaby, Phil Jarred and David Tayles (skip) defeated D. White’s team 31/16. Laurie Innes, Janice Aubrey, Steve Barr and Graham Woolstencr­oft (skip) defeated L. Knowles’ team 41/8. The 33-shot win saw this rink named overall best rink.

Division four: Drouin (3) 4/82 lost to Trafalgar (2) 16/92.

Mal Anderson, Ray Watson, Kevin Potter and Col Jeffrey (skip) defeated Frank Farrugia’s team 22/21. Trafalgar was two shots up on end 24. However, Drouin skip Col Jeffrey had last bowl with Kevin Potter, playing third, instructin­g him to just arrive at the opponent’s bowl. He did just that and picked up three shots for the rink to win by one.

Merv Appleyard, Brian Thorpe, Gwen Price and Peter Hone (skip) lost to Mal Clymo’s team 13/30. Don Mowat, Terry Fadzean, Mary Firth and Neil Bullen (skip) defeated W. Horst’s team 27/20. Elaine Thorpe, Bill Eacott, Margaret Rhodes and Robbie Proctor (skip) lost to Darryl Horner’s team 20/21. Drouin was down by five shots on the 20th end. However, in the last five ends Drouin picked up five shots to fall just one short of the win.

Division six: Drouin (4) 0/41 lost to Trafalgar (3) 6/57.

Max Hine, Kath Dixon, Graeme Godkin and John Kinrade (skip) lost to Geoff Burt’s team 23/24. Jim Hogan, Ed Fowler, Richard Joyner and Tom Lawler (skip) lost to Bill Lithgow’s team 18/33.
