Too much to ask

-

If only, I hadn’t purchased a car that had autosensing lights, the ones that turn headlights on and off according to the amount of light in the area surrounding the car.

If only, I hadn’t put my faith and trust in technology. If only, those headlights had turned on 30 seconds before not 30 seconds after the police car spotted my car.

If only, the sun had set with very little lingering light (I checked later that the sun had just set but it was nowhere near last light and my lights functioned as they should).

If only, the officer who pulled me over had listened to my apology and reason for the lights not being on and given me a warning after checking that my only infringement was over five years before.

However that would have meant that I would have missed out on the joys of being involved with Fines Victoria.

The following day I went on line to check out how to appeal. My fine wasn’t listed so I rang the number that was listed.

Some 40 minutes later I got through only to find that Fines Victoria had to wait for the paperwork from the police and that could take a week or more.

I would then be given a separate reference number to either pay or appeal. However I would get a letter sent to me with the full details.

Needless to say nothing arrived. I rang back a week and a bit later and managed to get through in less than half an hour.
