done enough to allow Mathew Jones (30*) to knock off the winning runs – the Titans finishing at 7-191 from their allotted overs.

Dillon strikes century

Jindivick (5-244) def. Ellinbank (178): A sensational century to Steve Dillon has helped Jindivick maintain top spot on the ladder following their 66-run win over Ellinbank, the top order batsmen putting a run of poor form behind him to well and truly lead the way for his side.

Not having made it to 30 since round five, Dillon would no doubt have been nervous at the start of his innings, and wondering where his breakthrough score might come from – but once he settled there was little the Eagles bowlers could do to disturb his concentration, and prevent him from steadily accumulating runs.

In less than ideal conditions, Dillon combined with Greg Interlandi in a 78-run third wicket stand that took the game completely away from the Eagles – and ensured that the runs kept ticking over no matter who was bowling.

Tom Robertson toiled away for 24 overs to claim a much-deserved five-wicket haul (his wickets the only wickets to fall for the day) but Ellinbank couldn’t stop Jindivick from posting 5-244 from their 70 overs, with Dillon finishing with an exceptional 101 not out.

Stags thump Gulls

Neerim District (3-138) def. Warragul (135): Neerim District maintained their position in second spot on the division two table thanks to a thumping win over Warragul, with the Stags largely untroubled in their run-chase on Saturday.

Chasing 135, Nathan Bayne (11 from just seven balls) and Bailey George (26 from 45) began positively and their aggressive intent set the tone for the rest of the Neerim District innings.

In particular, Jack Ward took full toll on the Warragul bowlers, and his fourth halfcentury of the summer helped the required runs to drop at a startling rate.

Belting six boundaries and finishing with a run-a-ball unbeaten 77, Ward’s dynamic knock helped his side over the line in just the 35th over – with only Tim Whitten (230 off seven) able to have any impact with the ball.

The win sees Warragul rooted to the bottom of the division two ladder and they will be hoping for a positive finish to the summer in the remaining three rounds.
