Division 3

- By Sam Laffy

Iona (225) def. Jindivick (163): Iona shored up their position at the top of the division three table thanks to a comfortable 62-run win over Jindivick – with the Swamp Tigers led by an impressive display of bowling form Shannon Hayhow.

Having posted 225 last weekend, it was always going to a tough chase for Jindivick and the collapse of their top order didn’t help their cause, slipping to 4-45 at one stage.

Hayhow (4-37) and Jayson Barwick (2-44 off 22) maintained consistent pressure with the ball, and despite a knock of 50 to Brandon Interlandi, the Jumping Jacks fell well short – dismissed for 163 in the 61st over.

Panthers save outright

Garfield-Tynong (173) def. Yarragon (96 and 158):

Having already claimed first innings points last weekend, the interest in the GarfieldTynong versus Yarragon game centered on whether or not the Titans could push for an outright win.

But some defiant defence in the second innings from Yarragon ensured that they escaped with some respectability from the round 11 clash.

Resuming at 5-99, Garfield-Tynong made their way through to 173 before being dismissed – with Paul Tribe (30) enjoying success in his first match for the summer.

Darren Davidson was impressive throughout the inning with the ball and finished with the exceptional figures of 7-60.

Batting for a second time, a knock of 34 to John Malacarne helped the Panthers through to 1-58 before stumps were called.
