Kangas fall despite Kleeven century

-

Set a reasonable target the Eagles began well with Matthew Murphy (50 retired not out) and Stuart Davis (31) setting a good foundation. Matt Guy compiled a patient 32 not out to get the visitor home late in the day.

Wickets were at a premium with Brad Cross, Stephen Bleazby, and Jim Sandman picking up one apiece.

Earlier on the Hawks had an even spread of contributors. Mick Wardle finished with 29 not out, Robert Simpson made 27, Ron Harper chipped in with 25, and Stephen Bleazby added 25 at the top of the order.

Ryan Mcguiness was the pick of the bowlers with 3/41.

Target too much

Jindivick 3/223 (cc) def Iona 5/162 (cc)

Jindivick ran out convincing winners after posting a big total against Iona.

After a steady start that saw them reach 3/53 the Jumping Jacks took it up a notch with Dave Wagner and Daryl Bagnall each reaching 50 retired not out.

Rory Payne (36*) and Josh Fairful (34*) kept the scorers busy, pushing the required run rate beyond six an over.

Fred Franks, Sean McCormack and Michael Scully claimed one wicket each.

In reply, Sean McCormack (48) again led the scoring with good support from Liam Lenders (22) and Michael Scully (26). Russell Ferguson provided stern resistance to finish the day 21 not out but the target proved too much for the Swamp Tigers.

Daryl Bagnall was the pick of the bowlers with a tidy four over spell that saw him claim 2/4 with three maidens included.
