Arts a prominent feature on program

Arts and entertainm­ent will again be a prominent feature of Drouin’s Ficifolia Festival.

Extraordin­ary talents of local artists and those from further afield will be on show at the Ficifolia Festival Art Show, with more than $7500 in prizes on offer.

Coordinate­d by the Baw Baw Arts Alliance, all proceeds from the Ficifolia Art Show go towards supporting arts in Baw Baw Shire.

Featuring original works of art in various mediums, the Art Show will officially open on Thursday, February 8 at 7.30pm.

To be held at the Drouin Football Club social rooms, Sinclair St, Drouin, the Show will also open from 10am until 4pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are available online, at Station Gallery Yarragon or on the door on the night.

Lazy poetry

A lazy afternoon of poetry at Middels will begin the Ficifolia Festival in a relaxed atmosphere on Sunday, February 4.

The event is free of charge, with readings to begin in the Middels function room at 2pm.

Presented by the Demented Echidna Poets Collective, Lord Stanley Wynyard Launceston will appear as guest presenter. For more informatio­n contact Wayne on 0417 506 631.

Music set to appeal

Music for all tastes will feature across the duration of the Ficifolia Festival.

Baw Baw Singers will host a musical evening on Monday, February 5.

The event is free of charge, and will be held at the Drouin Anglican Church hall, Princes Way, from 6.45pm.

Twilight concert

Mr Michael Read will perform in a twilight concert at Drouin Senior Centre on Thursday, February 8 from 7pm.

Tickets cost $15 for a family or $10 single entry, with supper provided.

The exhibition will be held at the Anglican Church Hall, Princes Way Drouin on Saturday February 10 from 9am until 5pm, and on Sunday from 9.30am until 5pm.
