Ficifolia heads back to the 80s

-

Drouin’s Ficifolia Festival will head back to the 80s as the 30th anniversary of the festival is celebrated this year.

The festival celebrates the flowering gums that line the streets of the town, as well as the vast array of community groups, and people that make Drouin what it is today.

The Festival will offer activities for all ages and interests, beginning with the Drouin Golf Club charity day for autism research and a lazy afternoon of poetry at Middels on Sunday, February 4.

Activities include the Baw Baw Singers’ musical evening, Drouin cemetery walks, CWA exhibition, twilight concert, Ficifolia Festival Art Show and a historical talk on one of the first pioneers of the town, John Sutcliffe.

Other events on the program include a flora and fauna presentation and Friends of Drouin Trees book launch, while community radio station 3BBR will again hold an open day.

The Combined Church Services will close the festival with a church service on Sunday, February 11.

The service will be held at the Keith Pretty Soundshell in Drouin’s Civic Park at 7pm.

The excitement of parade day returns with an extended program, with activities on offer from 10am through to the evening.

A car show and market will begin the day, with the popular parade to begin at 5pm. A family friendly program at Drouin’s Civic Park will follow, including skatepark competition, live music, family outdoor movie and fireworks.
