Witness assists to arrest youths

The assistance of an alert community member led to the arrest of two teenage boys allegedly involved in a spate of car thefts around Trafalgar on Saturday night.

A witness contacted police at 5.30am on Sunday morning when he saw two youths allegedly in a Mitsubishi Pajero.

The community member followed the two youths for a short time and was able to give police a detailed descriptio­n of the two youths.

Warragul Police attended at Trafalgar where they located two teenagers hiding behind the United Service Station on the corner of Ashby St and the Princes Hwy.

Police allege the two boys were in possession of a quantity of stolen goods.

The two youths, aged 15 and 14-years-old from Trafalgar and Newborough, have been charged with thefts from motor vehicles.

The charges relate to a spate of thefts around Trafalgar overnight on Saturday night between 8pm and 8.30am.

Police have received reports of thefts from motor vehicles in Flores St, Kitchener St, Princes Ave, Princes Ave and Chapmans Rd.

A handbag and contents valued at $440 was stolen from a vehicle in Flores St and assorted property was stolen from the other vehicles.

Trafalgar Police are keen to speak to anyone else that may have had their car broken into or items stolen on Saturday night.
