Survey underway on council performance
Community members will have the chance to rate Baw Baw Shire’s performance through the annual community satisfaction survey currently underway.
Telephone interviewing for the state government’s annual survey on local government performance began in Baw Baw Shire last Thursday and will continue until March.
The state-wide survey is being undertaken by JWS Research on behalf of Local Government Victoria to find out how residents think their local council has performed over the past 12 months.
During the interview period residents may be contacted by telephone to participate in the survey. Researchers will call a random selection of residents until they receive 400 valid responses.
Baw Baw Shire is one of 64 Victorian councils participating in this year’s survey.
Mayor Joe Gauci said the survey was a fantastic opportunity for council to gauge performance and receive first hand feedback from the community.
“Each year our survey results play an important part in council’s forward planning and help us see where we are performing well and where there is room for improvement.
“Council provides over a hundred different services to our community each year.
“The results of the survey help us to understand whether these services meet the needs of our growing community.
“In recent years our results have varied. We have performed well in some areas such as customer service, and below average results in other areas such as conditions of local streets and roads.
Cr Gauci urged community members who receive a call over the next few weeks to take five or 10 minutes to let council know how it has performed.
