Drouin surpirse Yallourn North

There were some surprises for Drouin in West Gippsland Bowls Saturday pennant, with division four scoring their first match of the season in grand style.

The team had a large 20/0 win over Yallourn North at home. Yallourn North were expecting a big win, but Drouin turned the tie.

With skip Rob Proctor’s team down by one shot on the last end, Proctor asked Margaret Rhodes to bring the jack back in. That she did, with Proctor finishing the end to pick up four shots to win 25/22.

Mal Anderson’s team led 15/2 at the eighth end on the way to winning 28/17.

The result may stop Yallourn North from playing finals with one home and away round to be played. Results: Division 1: Drouin 4/93 lost to Morwell 16/112:

The best rink winners were Margaret Schofield’s team with 22 shots up.

Division one played at home to Neerim and had a convincing win, 16/0, 88-40. Results: M Leighton (skip), S Atkinson, M Rhodes and L Firth won 30/11.

M Schofield (skip), P Appleyard, M Firth and G Aubrey won 35/13.

D Hamilton (skip), J Aubrey, L Jeffrey and L Innes won 23/16.

Division two played away to Traralgon, losing by seven shots overall 12/4, 67-60. Results: M McMillan (skip), C Attrill, M Appleyard and E Thorpe won 20/27.

T Cole (skip), G Price, J Woolard and H Gaff lost 30/12.

I Dawson (skip), D Hone, L Rippon and L Fox won 17/21.

Division four played at Yinnar and lost by nine shots overall, 2/8, 34/43. Results: K Dixon (skip), S Woodville, M Hogan and M Brunet won 19/17.
