Unnecessary fuel outlet

-

It has come to my attention that currently lodged with the Baw Baw Shire Planning Department is an application from BP to construct a fuel outlet with food services on the western edge of Yarragon on the Hazledean Rd/Princes Freeway intersection.

This is in a zoned residential area and directly opposite the existing residences on Hazledean Rd.

The amount of traffic that daily uses these roads would make any developement such as this could create a potential death trap with cars crossing the east bound lanes to enter and leave this site, very similar to the Sand Rd (before overpass) intersection.

Also as there are already four fuel outlets on the eastern bound side of freeway within a 10k radius this developement seems totally unneccesary.

I also have from a very reliable source that when contacted, the local shire councillors had no knowledge of this proposal, and were very surprised when brought to their attention. Is this another hidden agenda, just like that big M in Drouin?

This proposal, if granted, will affect the nice peaceful living village of Yarragon with light and noise pollution as well as the danger of volatile fuels so very close to an existing residential area.

Also businesses in Trafalgar, Yarragon, Darnum and indeed Warragul would be affected and severely affeced.

It would affect the quaint village atmosphere of Yarragon at a time when the Baw Baw Shire is promoting tourism marketing strategy plan.
