Aldred resigns to take up new ceo position
Committee for Gippsland chief executive Mary Aldred has resigned to take up the position of CEO of the Franchise Council of Australia.
Committee for Gippsland chairman Harry Rijs announced that Ms Aldred will be departing her role next month.
“Mary has made a tremendous contribution to the Gippsland region in her capacity as CEO of the Committee for Gippsland over nearly seven years. She has taken the organisation from an 11-member start-up to a respected and effective advocacy body with almost 100 members,” Mr Rijs said.
“Her efforts and achievements have been greatly valued by the board and members of the Committee for Gippsland, and we wish her all the very best in her new national advocacy role.
“Mary leaves the Committee for Gippsland in a strong position, with growing membership, millions of dollars having been secured for the region through advocacy efforts, collaborative partnerships with our stakeholders, and a healthy and a secure financial position,” Mr Rijs added.
“Mary has led the Committee for Gippsland through a number of significant challenges for the region. Most notably, preparing for the closure of Hazelwood power station in 2017.
“Mary worked with our members and stakeholders to research, develop and deliver a comprehensive blue print for government to follow as a transition process for the region with the report ‘Our Region Our Future’,” Mr Rijs added.
The Committee for Gippsland Board will engage an executive recruitment firm to search for a replacement. In the interim, the Committee for Gippsland’s policy and membership manager Tony Cantwell will become acting CEO after Ms Aldred finishes in her role.
