Very hot conditions did not deter 57 Warragul women from burning up the course for the opening day of events and the first monthly medal for the year.

The winner of A grade was Marie Veitch 95/21/74 from Irene Thomas 87/11/76.

The B grade winner was past member Judy Shearman, visiting from Bairnsdale, with a score of 95/23/72 followed by Belinda Best 101/28/73.

The winner of C grade was Heather Reeves 108/35/73 on a count back from Tracey Cusden 106/33/73.

Down the line balls went to: Sandy Heenan 96/23/73, Lesley Huggins 104/30/74, Julie Keeble 104/30/74, Maureen Kittelty 98/23/75, Sandra Turner 105/30/75, Barb Davidson 98/23/75, Marlene Wright 108/32/76, Dawn Campbell 98/22/76, Carol Muldowney 119/42/77, Judy Wilkinson 109/32/77, Kaye Rollinson 102/25/77 and Del Baker 97/20/77.

Nearest the pin on yhe seventh was Judy Malady, while Heather Reeves was closest on the 15th.

The best scratch score was Irene Thomas (87), who also won the least putts with 28 putts.

The mystery six A grade went to Kerri Ahearn with Brenda Whitehead winning B grade.

There will be a four way play-off for the February monthly medal in March between Belinda Best, Tracey Cusden, Sandy Heenan and Heather Reeves, having all scored nett 73.

Thirteen women played in the nine-hole competitio­n, with the winner Jean Radings scoring 32 points on a count back from Sue Montagnat.

Down the line balls went to Colleen Pruser 32 points and Sheila Applegate 33 points.

Tomorrow’s event is the Drougul Cup, a battle between Drouin and Warragul women to win the coveted trophy.
